The Fair I Location
LOCATION - STAZIONE LEOPOLDA

The Stazione Leopolda in Florence is a beautiful railway station from the first half of the nineteenth century. It is unique and well maintained in view of its artistic and historic value. Since the early 90s it has been the venue for various cultural and contemporary creative shows and events: cultural exhibitions, art and architectural reviews, fashion shows, concerts and plays, innovative trade fairs, eno-gastronomic tastings, television and film sets, conventions, business meetings and public forums.

The building covers a surface area of roughly six thousand metres squared, subdivided into two mains areas: the Stazione Leopolda and the Alcatraz Area.

The Stazione Leopolda is set out as an open space under a large metallic roof. The roof is subdivided into two wide bays with an average height of 7,5 metres and at the far end it exceeds 12 metres.

The Alcatraz Area annexed to the station is an ex-storeroom with two balcony upper levels that look over a large courtyard. The total surface area of Alcatraz is 1,500 metres squared.

The large external terrace (1,100 msq.) in front of the building was rennovated by Gae Aulenti in 1996 and opens out onto one of Florence's main inner ring roads.
